Grandfather’s Gift
This quilt is a wedding gift, sewn by a grandfather for his grandson’s wedding. What a joy it was to transform this top to a beautiful symbol of love within a wonderful family!

Our beginnings are rooted in our ancestry. My grandmother was a quilter. She quilted by hand with her group of friends. We all have a quilt from her. All eight of her children and thirty-something grandchildren were given a wedding quilt. Each first grandchild was made a baby quilt. That was the starting point. Many lives were touched by her service.
I’ve sewn quilts since I was very young. As a young mother, I made tied quilts for my five children and since then, I’ve made a wedding quilt for each of them as they were wed. I sent those quilts to someone else to quilt, thinking how I wished it was me doing that final work on those legacies.
The time finally came for me to get busy! I’m loving every minute spent on my quilting machine! Okay, maybe not EVERY minute.
